Personal Information and Records
In accordance with the Day Nurseries Act, and in order to attend any one of our centres, we require complete and accurate personal, medical and immunization information. If you have decided not to vaccinate your child, you must provide us with a letter indicating this. It is each parents responsibility to keep their child’s online care profile up to date. You may additionally advise us by telephone, email or online chat about any changes that have been made. All information is kept confidential with the exception of sharing the registration file with the supervisor of the centre that your child will be attending, and our booking support staff.
Behaviour Policy
We understand that every child is unique and responds differently to discipline. Providers in our network recognize and accept each child’s individuality and developmental level, and we do our best to plan for positive outcomes, while providing effective guidance. Childcare staff use a variety of ways when disciplining children. Some include, getting to the child’s level and talking to them in a calm manner, offering choices or redirecting them to another activity or learning centre, recognizing and praising positive behaviour, pointing out and clarifying the natural or logical consequences in order to develop self-discipline, promoting discussion, and allowing time alone for those who want or need it.
Childcare providers in the Care Connect Network do not tolerate aggressive behaviour. Although there are always times when children “act out”, it is up to each providers discretion to ask a parent to withdrawal their child from our programs. This may be necessary if your child’s behaviour negatively affects the other children, our staff, and/or our environment.
Nut Free Policy
Providers in the Care Connect Network are nut free centres. There are many children with life threatening allergies who attend childcare centres. Providers make every effort to keep the children in their care safe, and request that no food be brought in from home.
Illness Policy
If your child has a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, undiagnosed skin rash, or any other condition that may require medical attention, we cannot accept him/her into our centres. Common colds are acceptable given that your child is well enough to participate in all scheduled activities. A child cannot return to any centre unless they are symptom free for 24 hours. Providers may at any time request a doctor’s note that indicates that your child can return to the centre.
Anaphylaxis Policy
The anaphylaxis policy is intended to help support the needs of a child with a severe allergy and provide information on anaphylaxis and awareness to parents, staff, students and visitors. In compliance with the Ministry of Community and Social Services, Children and Youth Services, childcare providers require the parent or physician of a child with an anaphylactic allergy to train a staff member on their child’s individual emergency plan in the case the child has an anaphylactic reaction. All parents whose child has an anaphylactic allergy, must complete an anaphylactic plan, and train a staff member on the plan prior to commencing care at any centre booked through the Care Connect Network.
Medication Policy
Care Connect Networks medication policy includes the following:
Prescription medications for children must be accompanied by a parent-signed medicine authorization form with the child’s name, dates for administering the medicine, doses, name of medicine, reason for medicine
Medicine must be in the original pharmacy container, with the prescription label intact, and must include the name of the pharmacy, doctor’s name, and date of purchase
Non-prescription medicines can be administered following the above mentioned criteria and must be accompanied with a doctor’s note indicating exact administration instructions. Parents must include the date of purchase on all non-prescription medications.
